At Poptronic VR, we believe in the power of immersive technology to not only entertain, but to spark reflection, conversation, and even healing. That’s why when we had the opportunity to bring Meta Quest 2 & 3 VR headsets to a private corporate event in Toronto and collaborate with the visionary filmmakers behind Plastisapiens, we knew this would be more than a tech demo that it would be a deeply memorable experience.
Held in an intimate venue tailored for creative exploration, this special event brought together forward-thinking professionals and the brilliant women who brought Plastisapiens to life. From the moment guests entered, it was clear this wasn’t just about strapping on a headset—it was about stepping into an entirely new world, one where plastic and organic life merge, mutate, and evolve.

A Calming Portal Amid Climate Anxiety
Plastisapiens is an award-winning VR experience, unlike anything we've ever helped present. At a time when conversations around the climate crisis can often feel overwhelming or paralyzing, this interactive VR journey offers something radical: calm. Within the soft, biomorphic visuals and ambient soundscapes, participants are invited to let go of fear and instead engage their curiousity.
Users were transformed, literally. We saw the expressions on their faces shift. Wonder. Fascination. Peace.
From Spectators to Co-Creators
The experience was guided by co-creator Miri Chekhanovich, whose voice provided a gentle, English or French narrative presence throughout. Her invitation to reimagine evolution, from the bacterial and fungal past to a hybridized future, wasn't just a lecture. It was a call to participate, to co-evolve, to feel your own porosity with the world around you.
What made this event truly special was the presence of the Plastisapiens creators themselves. In a cozy, post-experience group, they shared their process: from working with bioplastics and textiles to crafting the edible bioplastic morsels that blurred the boundary between installation and participant. These women didn't just make a VR experience, they built an ecosystem, and the audience was a vital part of it.
A Space for Real Conversation
After the VR journeys, the room buzzed with thoughtful conversation. Not about doom or catastrophe, but about possibility. Could hybrid bodies be a metaphor for new ways of living with the planet? What if softness and adaptability were our new strengths?
We were proud to be the tech partner that helped realize this vision. With our fleet of Quest 2 and 3 headsets and our support in setup, calibration, and guest onboarding, we ensured every participant was immersed without distraction but with comfort.

Looking Ahead
As we continue to bring XR to events across Canada, Plastisapiens reminds us what’s possible when technology meets artistry, and when experience leads to empathy. Thank you to the creators, to the curious attendees, and to the organizers who made space for such an innovative gathering.
